In your groups, prepare a presentation on your individual/group. You must provide an A4 information sheet of notes to support your presentation and help people take notes. This should be emailed to me.

Thursday - finish reading up to P148 and the end of the Cultural Revolution. Can you plan an essay to answer:
What factor was most important for Mao consolidating power?
Point - 100 Flowers/Little Red Book (propaganda) etc etc
Link - mini conclusion. How important was the point?
Friday - finish plan. Make sure notes are in order as we will be moving on to the next section next Thursday (no lesson on Monday).

Finish reading on the Great Leap Forward and then read on the Cultural Revolution up to P146 and the removal of opposition. Complete for Thursday.
Discuss the role of ideology in the emergence of an authoritarian state that you have studied (15 marks)
•Review arguments for why an authoritarian state has emerged. “Role of ideology” is one argument, can you think of any others in relation to Mao?
•Include evidence, be detailed and specific
•Explain why that evidence leads to the emergence of an authoritarian state
•Link back to the Q: Analyse how important the argument (factor) is in contributing to the Q (emergence of an authoritarian state)

On Monday, there are copies of the Mao textbook in the box in M3. Please use them to take notes on the first 2 and a half pages (to the bottom of Chairman Mao) on revolutionary China and the background to Mao. Please put the books back!

Your presentations will be used to teach others in the class as they fill in their tables.

Read the article to gain an understanding of Stalin's personality, propaganda and cult in Russia. There is no need to take detailed notes, but a short summary of 4/5 bullet points will help lead discussion tomorrow.
